The independent Cumbria Foot and Mouth
Disease Inquiry Panel will be
holding three public evening surgeries to listen to the views of people
affected by the crisis. All three meetings will start at 7.00pm with
access
to the venues available from 6.30pm. Those venues are:
Ulverston Coronation Hall on
the 14 May
Appleby Public Hall on 15 May
Longtown Memorial Hall on 16
May
The public meetings are in addition to
the formal hearings of the
Inquiry in Kendal on 7-10 May and Carlisle 28-31 May. They are open to
anyone who wishes to tell the Panel about their experiences or the
lessons they feel must be learnt to prevent or deal with any future outbreaks.
The evening sessions will each follow a day where the Panel will visit
locations around Cumbria to see at first hand the dramatic impact that the disease
had on all aspects of life in the County. Transcripts of the meetings
themselves will form part of the formal evidence of the Inquiry and in addition
evidence comments forms will also be available for people to complete, should they wish to add anything to what is said during those meetings.
